Kenya: Post-Election Prospects
Wednesday, 3rd August 2022
10:00 London BST | 11:00 South Africa SAST
This webinar will provide a roundup of our views on the August 10th election in Kenya and the likely policy direction thereafter. The presentation will include both research from our Africa country risk team, as well as the outlook for the infrastructure, construction and consumer sectors.
It will lay out our core view that Raila Odinga is probably best-placed to win given his substantial support base and backing from outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta, and that this will lead to broad continuity in Kenya’s business-friendly policy approach - although investors would seek clarity regarding Odinga’s stance on public debt. We will also discuss the likely implications should William Ruto win the presidency - likely leading to less smooth policy formation.
Topics covered will include:
- Election Outcome
- Policymaking Prospects
- Medium-Term Economic Growth
- Consumer Outlook & Retail Trends
- Infrastructure & Construction Industry Outlook
