Sub-Saharan Africa Macroeconomic Update

The webinar will focus on the macroeconomic and political outlook for the Sub-Saharan African region as a whole, with a particular focus on the major economies.
We will look at the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, roll-outs of Covid-19 vaccines – notably on commodity prices, and inflation – and outline the potential risks in terms of political instability. We will also look at likely growth and other macro performance in 2022.

Head of Sub-Saharan Africa Risk
Jane Morley is Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Risk team at Fitch Solutions, based in Fitch's London headquarters. She has more than 25 years of experience covering political, macroeconomic and operating risk in individual African markets, as well as broader pan-African developments.
Jane joined Fitch in 2018. Prior to this she worked at the Economist Intelligence Unit, focusing on a range of African economies including Angola, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. She has a degree in English Literature from the University of London.
Senior Analyst, SSA Country Risk
Gianmarco Capati is a Senior Country Risk Analyst at Fitch Solutions. Based in the London office, Gianmarco analyses macroeconomic and political developments in SSA, with a particular focus on East and Southern Africa. Gianmarco joined Fitch Solutions in 2018. He holds an MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London and a BA in International Affairs from John Cabot University.
Sub-Saharan Africa Country Risk Analyst
Winifred Michael is a Sub-Saharan Africa Country Risk Analyst at Fitch Solutions. Based in the London office, Winifred analyses macroeconomic and political developments in several African markets, with a particular focus on Southern African countries such as Angola, Mozambique and Namibia. She joined Fitch Solutions in 2019 and holds an MSc in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in International Relations from the University of Essex. Interested in the nexus between country risk and sustainability, she also holds a Certificate in ESG Investing.
